The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the San Antonio Spurs to snap their four-game skid after offsetting 30 points by the return of Victor Wembanyama on Tuesday night.
Grizzlies’ Cam Spencer dropped 21 points, including the five clutch points made in the final 1:26 minutes, Jaren Jackson Jr. had also 21, and Jock Landale finished with 19 points.
Spencer dropped a 10-foot baseline jumper with 36.5 seconds left, while De’Aaron took a 15-footer with 5 seconds left, but was blocked by Santi Aldana.
Wembanyama led the Spurs with 30 points, Julian Champagnie finished 23, and Stephon Castle had 15 before fouling out with 3:13 left.
The Grizzlies led 101-100 with 2:44 left when Fox started 1 of 13 from the field and was in the midst of six straight points, giving San Antonio to 104-101 edge with 1:39 to play.
Despite a poor first half, Memphis opened the second half on a 20-7 run to erase the 11-point trail.
Both teams were sloppy in the first half, making less than a third of their shots until late in the second frame as the Grizzlies had 13 turnovers.
Memphis and San Antonio will play on Wednesday night, as the Spurs take on the Lakers while the Grizzlies continue a four-game homestand against the Suns.
