Tyler Herro has established himself as an NBA All-Star, but he wants more of his Miami Heat teammates to join him in future selections.
After making his first All-Star appearance in 2025, Herro expressed his desire to see multiple Heat players receive the same recognition. Speaking to DJ Siddiqi of Basketball Insiders, he pointed out that the Cleveland Cavaliers had an All-Star-high three selections in Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley, and Darius Garland.
“Yeah, I was a little jealous,” Herro admitted. “I saw the Cavs had a couple guys in there, like two or three players. Next year and going forward, we’re gonna try to be at the top of the East so that we can get a couple more guys in besides myself—Bam (Adebayo), Ke’el (Ware), Jaime (Jacquez), Nikola (Jovic), young guys ready to continue to get better.”
Herro, 25, has been a key player for Miami this season, averaging 24.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.6 assists in 35.7 minutes per game. His standout performance earned him an All-Star reserve spot, and he also claimed the 2025 NBA Three-Point Contest title by defeating Buddy Hield and Darius Garland.
Although he enjoyed the weekend, Herro was not a fan of the new All-Star Game format, which featured games ending at 40 points for the winner. He scored six points in eight minutes for “Kenny’s Young Stars” in a loss to “Chuck’s Global Stars.”
“No, I didn’t even play,” Herro joked when asked if he liked the format. Despite that, he remains determined to return. “We’ll see what happens, but it was a lot of fun, a very eventful weekend. It was a great first experience. I would love to go back for sure.”
Herro also confirmed his intention to defend his Three-Point Contest crown next year. With Miami looking to climb the Eastern Conference standings, he hopes team success will lead to more Heat representation in the next All-Star Game.
