Jaren Jackson Jr. is striving for his second Defensive Player of the Year award, a feat that will be challenging due to the emergence of Victor Wembanyama, who is quickly becoming a frontrunner for the honor.
Jackson, who is making his second appearance in the NBA All-Star Game this season, has been a key defensive anchor for the Memphis Grizzlies.
He leads the team in both blocks and steals, showcasing his elite shot-blocking ability and defensive awareness.
While Wembanyama’s impressive play has made the race for the award more competitive, Jackson’s contributions on defense remain invaluable to the Grizzlies’ success.
“It’s a team award, really. So it would mean the world,” Jackson told Mark Medina in an Athlon Sports post. “It’s hard to win it two times. You can see that now. It’s not a given. So it would mean the world.”
