Anthony Davis is expected to be sidelined for at least four weeks due to an adductor strain, according to sources who spoke with Shams Charania and Tim MacMahon of ESPN. The Dallas Mavericks are hopeful that Davis can recover without needing surgery, which would allow him to return to the lineup sooner.

In addition to Davis’ absence, the Mavericks announced that Daniel Gafford will also be out for at least six weeks after suffering an MCL sprain. This adds to the team’s injury woes, as they are already without big men Dereck Lively II and Dwight Powell.

The series of injuries leaves the Mavericks particularly shorthanded in their frontcourt, posing challenges for their rotation and impacting their defensive and rebounding capabilities.
