Ben Simmons is embracing his fresh start with the Los Angeles Clippers after parting ways with the Brooklyn Nets.

“I’m a competitor. I just want to compete regardless of all the bullshit that is said online that doesn’t come from me,” Simmons said, per Michael Scotto.

The 28-year-old guard-forward officially signed with the Clippers on February 10, two days after his contract was bought out by Brooklyn.

Simmons’ role with the Nets had diminished due to injuries and inconsistent play, leading to a mutual decision to move on.

Now with Los Angeles, he sees the opportunity to contribute to a playoff-contending team and play alongside established stars.

“To play alongside some of these great players is going to be great,” Simmons said. “I think everyone is going to push each other to be better and expect greatness, so that’s my expectation coming to the Clippers.”

Simmons has averaged 6.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 6.9 assists in 25 minutes per game this season, showcasing his playmaking despite a reduced role.

The Clippers, sitting at 29-23 and sixth in the Western Conference, are hoping his defensive versatility and passing will bolster their depth.

Simmons has struggled to regain his All-Star form, but his ability to facilitate and guard multiple positions remains valuable.

Los Angeles is betting that he can complement Kawhi Leonard and James Harden while adding another layer of defensive intensity.

With the Clippers making a push for postseason success, Simmons is focused on proving his worth in a new environment.
