The Golden State Warriors have made Dennis Schroder available for trade as they explore options to upgrade their roster before the February 6 deadline. NBA insider Marc J. Spears reported on ESPN that Schroder’s $13 million salary could be used in a potential deal.
“So their wish list is Jimmy [Butler] and [Nikola] Vucevic, and Myles Turner,” Spears said. “What helps them a little bit tomorrow is Dennis Schroder’s now available for trade. He has $13 million and now they can add him into a deal.”
Golden State acquired Schroder from the Brooklyn Nets on December 15, 2024, in a trade that sent De’Anthony Melton, Reece Beekman, and three second-round picks to Brooklyn. The deal also included a 2025 second-round pick going to the Warriors.
Since joining Golden State, Schroder has been averaging 10.6 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 26.2 minutes per game. While he has provided valuable minutes at point guard, his role has not been enough to solidify the Warriors’ place in the Western Conference standings.
Golden State is currently 10th in the West with a 25-24 record, struggling to find consistency. The front office is reportedly targeting major moves, with players like Butler, Vucevic, and Turner on their radar.
Schroder recently made headlines for his controversial comments on trades, referring to them as “slavery.” Despite his remarks, his future with the Warriors remains uncertain as the trade deadline approaches.
With just hours left before the deadline, Golden State must decide whether Schroder will be part of a package to acquire another star or if he will remain on the roster for the remainder of the season.
