Dennis Schroder, recently traded to the Golden State Warriors from the Brooklyn Nets, expressed enthusiasm about joining his new team.
Speaking after a scrimmage on Tuesday, Schroder praised his new teammates and reflected on the opportunity to play alongside two-time MVP Stephen Curry.
“Just to be able to be around them now, especially Steph,” Schroder said, as reported by ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk. “He’s one of, if not the best point guard ever. Best shooter of course. Just excited to see how he works and to be a part of it.”
Schroder also highlighted the chance to team up with Draymond Green, noting, “I’ve played with a lot of future Hall of Famers the last couple of years. Him and Draymond will make it kind of complete now.”
The German guard has already proven his offensive value this season during his time with the Brooklyn Nets. Before the trade, Schroder was averaging 18.4 points, 6.6 assists, and 3 rebounds per game.
Golden State’s acquisition of Schroder adds depth to a roster that has struggled with consistency at the guard position. His scoring and playmaking could provide a significant boost as the Warriors aim to solidify their playoff positioning in the competitive Western Conference.
Despite his excitement, Schroder’s long-term future with the Warriors is uncertain. Reports suggest that Golden State may explore trade options involving Schroder before the deadline, potentially using his salary in a package to acquire another star.
Schroder, known for his ability to adapt to different systems, could be a key piece for the Warriors in the short term. However, the team’s front office remains active in evaluating moves that could enhance their championship aspirations.
