With the NBA trade deadline less than 24 hours away, Bradley Beal is expected to remain with the Phoenix Suns despite speculation about a potential trade. The Athletic’s Anthony Slater, David Aldridge, and Sam Amick reported that a source close to Beal stated there are “currently no talks about him waiving the clause” and that he “expects to remain in Phoenix through the deadline.”

The Suns have been pursuing Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler, but a deal would likely require Beal to be sent to a third team due to salary cap constraints. However, Beal holds a no-trade clause, giving him full control over any potential move.

Phoenix has struggled to find consistency this season, currently sitting at 25-24 and ninth in the Western Conference. Beal, who has battled injuries and was moved to a bench role, is averaging 17.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 32.4 minutes per game.

His contract situation makes a trade complicated, as he is in the second year of a five-year, $251 million deal that pays him $50.2 million this season. Moving his contract would require significant salary-matching, making any trade discussions more difficult.

Despite the Suns’ pursuit of Butler, no deal has materialized that would involve Beal. With no indication that he is willing to waive his no-trade clause, Phoenix appears set to move forward with its current core of Beal, Kevin Durant, and Devin Booker.
