Danny Green weighed in on the All-Star Game snubs of LaMelo Ball, Tyrese Maxey, and Zach LaVine during FanDuel TV’s Run It Back. Speaking with Michelle Beadle and Lou Williams, the three-time NBA champion acknowledged the league’s emphasis on winning but expressed disappointment for his peers.
“I love the fact that they’re valuing winning with this,” Green said. “I would love to see some of my guys get in there… It’s sad that they just can’t win games.”
Ball, a 2022 All-Star, is averaging 28.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game. However, the Charlotte Hornets sit 14th in the Eastern Conference with a 12-33 record, significantly hurting his case.
Maxey, who made his All-Star debut last season, is putting up 27.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 6 assists per contest. Despite his strong individual numbers, the Philadelphia 76ers have struggled without Joel Embiid, dropping to 11th in the East with a 19-28 record.
LaVine, a two-time All-Star, is averaging 24 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists. While the Chicago Bulls currently hold the 10th seed at 21-28, their inconsistent season likely played a role in LaVine missing the cut.
This year’s Eastern Conference reserves included Jaylen Brown, Cade Cunningham, Darius Garland, Tyler Herro, Damian Lillard, Evan Mobley, and Pascal Siakam. Many of these selections came from teams positioned higher in the standings, reinforcing the league’s prioritization of team success.
In the Western Conference, players like Jalen Williams, Alperen Sengun, and Victor Wembanyama secured their first All-Star nods.
