JANUARY 9, 2025 – HERZOGENAURACH – adidas NextGen EuroLeague announces its roster for the second qualifying tournament in Munich, Germany from January 17 to 19, 2025 following a successful first round in Istanbul, Turkey. In its 23rd edition, featuring a new name and logo, adidas NextGen EuroLeague continues to strengthen its connection to the Euroleague Basketball ecosystem and highlight its status as the premier platform that brings together the continent’s top young talents, serving as a natural pathway for future pan-European stars.

The following players are set to compete in the second qualifying round of adidas NextGen EuroLeague 2025 in Munich:

In the first qualifier, former adidas athlete Dogus Balbay made a successful debut as head coach of the adidas Next Gen Team, guiding them to an undefeated run until the finals where they faced U18 Mega MIS Belgrade, the tournament champions.

Ognjen Srzentic of Mega was named MVP of NextGen Istanbul, proving himself a dominant force with a final PIR of 29.7 and averaging 24.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5 assists per game. Standout players included adidas Next Gen’s Gerard Fernandez who delivered a memorable dunk over the center of Gran Canaria, Gran Canaria’s Arthur Tsafack whose performance helped his team secure third place, and Panathinaikos’s Christos Georgas who led his team to their best-ever fourth-place finish. NextGen Istanbul also saw two Turkish derbies as Anadolu Efes defeated Fenerbahçe to finish 6th place, and Fenerbahçe beat out host team Bahçeşehir College who finished last, to claim 7th place.

The second qualifying round in Munich hosted by FC Bayern Munich will be followed by competitions in Ulm, Germany from February 7 to 9, 2025, hosted by Ratiopharm Ulm, and Belgrade, Serbia from March 7 to 9, 2025, hosted by Crvena Zvezda Belgrade.

Danilo Barthel, retired Euroleague player and former member of the German national U18 and U20 teams, will join the NextGen Munich coaching staff alongside Balbay and Ozan Havuzlu.

This competition offers an incredible opportunity for these young players to display their potential, and I’m proud to be part of this journey as their sideline support, especially in my home country of Germany,” said Barthel.

adidas NextGen EuroLeague provides a dynamic stage for clubs to showcase their skills and offers former EuroLeague players a pathway into coaching roles to help shape the next generation of basketball talent.

Some of the biggest names in basketball have passed through the competition, including future stars such as Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks), Victor Wembanyama (San Antonio Spurs), Kristaps Porzingis (Boston Celtics), Domantas Sabonis (Sacramento Kings), Milos Teodosic (Red Star), Vasilije Micic (Charlotte Hornets), Nikola Mirotic (Olimpia Milano), among others.
