The Sacramento Kings, led by Malik Monk’s outstanding performance, dismantled the Golden State Warriors 129-99 on Sunday night at Chase Center. Monk delivered a game-high 26 points and dished out 12 assists, helping the Kings secure their fourth consecutive victory and improve to 17-19 for the season.
Despite missing their leading scorer, De’Aaron Fox, due to a bruised glute, the Kings showed dominance from start to finish. Sacramento built a commanding 75-51 halftime lead and never trailed.
Domantas Sabonis added 22 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists for the Kings, while Sacramento’s defense held the Warriors to just 22 assists, matching their total turnovers. The Kings shot an efficient 51.7% from the field and drained 19 three-pointers.
Stephen Curry led the Warriors with 26 points and seven rebounds but lacked sufficient support from his teammates. Andrew Wiggins contributed 18 points, and Draymond Green added 10 points and four assists. However, Golden State’s offense struggled throughout, shooting only 34.3% from beyond the arc and committing 22 turnovers.
Monk’s dynamic play set the tone early, as he hit five of his eight three-point attempts and orchestrated Sacramento’s offense with precision. His efforts were complemented by Keegan Murray’s 11 points and three triples, as well as Kevin Huerter’s efficient 16-point outing off the bench.
The Kings’ bench also outperformed Golden State’s reserves, with Trey Lyles grabbing nine rebounds and Devin Carter contributing 13 points. Sacramento’s ability to dominate the glass, winning the rebounding battle 43-35, further highlighted their complete team effort.
Golden State, now 18-17 on the season, missed the presence of Jonathan Kuminga, who is sidelined for at least three weeks with a sprained ankle.
The Kings capitalized on Golden State’s sloppy ball handling, converting turnovers into transition points and maintaining high energy throughout the contest. Sacramento’s defensive pressure and ability to convert high-percentage looks helped them establish and maintain their sizable lead.
The Warriors, who rested Curry in their win over Memphis the previous night, appeared out of sync offensively. Dennis Schröder struggled, finishing with just three points on 1-for-7 shooting, while Trayce Jackson-Davis went scoreless in 17 minutes.
