Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson had nothing but great things to say about the leadership of Donovan Mitchell following Tuesday’s 122-110 road win vs. the Los Angeles Lakers (26 points/4 rebounds/4 assists/8-20 FG/6-13 3-PT/4-5 FT/+9 +/-).
(via Cleveland Cavaliers):
“He empowers people. He’s so selfless. Steph [Curry] was like that, too. They just know how to, because they’re so positive. He’s the most positive guy we’ve ever seen. They know how to uplift other people around them. He never gets negative. Our coaches say, ‘We get negative.’ He always stays positive. Always looking to find a solution. And then, he’s just empowered everybody. He’s empowered me. He’s empowered the coaches. He’s empowered Evan [Mobley], DG (Darius Garland). It kinda stems from him. It stems from that selflessness. So to me, that’s the ultimate leader, right? It’s like servant leadership. He’s at our service. And of course, he hits all those threes and is a great player on top of it. So, that’s pretty cool.”
