Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox recently appeared on The Draymond Green Show alongside Baron Davis, where he shared candid thoughts about his future with the franchise.

During the episode, Fox discussed his strong connection to Sacramento and the factors influencing his potential decision to remain with the team long-term.

“That’s where I’m at. I love the city, I love being here and I raised my family here. Would love to be here and retire here, how many people can say they played for one organization for their whole career? I also wanna win,” Fox stated.

“They know I am going to give all I got, but at the end of the day the organization has also got to give all they got, that’s where we are right now.”

Fox, who has emerged as one of the league’s premier guards, has this season and next left on his contract. Despite being eligible for an extension last offseason, Fox opted not to sign a new deal.

The Kings guard will once again be eligible for an extension in the upcoming offseason, where he could potentially add another year to his current deal.

Reflecting on his decision, the player emphasized that his ultimate priority is the direction of the team and their ability to build a winning culture.

“It all has to do with the team, the organization, where are we going. I want to make sure that we’re in a position to try and win in the future because that’s ultimately what I want to do. I know I’ll make enough money regardless of where I play or what I do, I’m going to be fine,” Fox explained.

Fox reiterated that competing for a championship remains central to his long-term commitment to the Kings.

“Are we looking like we’re continuing to get better year after year and are we going to compete at a high level? That’s all mine is, if we could show that this year, you sign an extension now,” he said.

“If not, I still have another year. But that’s where my mindset is: At some point will we be able to compete for a championship or compete at a high level for a long time.”

Fox’s openness about his aspirations underscores the balance between loyalty to Sacramento and his desire for competitive success, leaving the ball in the Kings’ court to prove their commitment to building a championship-contending team.
