De’Aaron Fox explains late-game decision in Spurs loss

De’Aaron Fox addressed the pivotal sequence that helped swing Game 4 in the New York Knicks’ favor, after his late shot attempt was blocked by OG Anunoby in the closing seconds.

With the San Antonio Spurs holding a one-point lead and the shot clock turned off, Fox elected to attack the basket following a steal rather than run additional time off the clock and potentially draw a foul.

The play backfired when Anunoby recovered to block the layup attempt, allowing New York to regain possession before the game-winning tip-in.

“I thought I’d be able to outrun (Anunoby),” Fox said.

The player explained that his goal was to extend San Antonio’s lead and force the Knicks into a more difficult situation.

“Try to get a layup, get up three and force them to need a three,” Fox told reporters. “OG made a good block.”
