Sacramento Kings forward DeMar DeRozan will not suit up for Friday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers, as he continues to deal with muscle inflammation in his lower back.

Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee shared the news via X. This will mark DeRozan’s second consecutive missed game and his fifth overall absence this season as the Kings monitor his recovery and prioritize his long-term health.

The back issue has been a lingering concern for DeRozan, who has been a crucial contributor for Sacramento this season.

Meanwhile, the Trail Blazers are facing significant roster challenges of their own ahead of Friday’s matchup.

The team announced through X that Jerami Grant is doubtful to play due to a left knee sprain, and Robert Williams is also unlikely to be available as he remains in the league’s concussion protocol.

Both players are key components of Portland’s rotation, and their potential absences are significant blows.

On top of this, Portland will remain without Donovan Clingan, who is sidelined with a left knee sprain, and Matisse Thybulle, dealing with a right ankle sprain.

Both players are expected to miss several weeks as they recover.

With so many key players unavailable, the Blazers will need to rely on their depth and younger players to step up against a Kings team that is also adjusting to life without DeRozan for the time being.
