One of the key Olympiacos players, Nikola Milutinov was talking about past experience in Etihad Arena, but also about changes his team made.
“We have some bad memories of this Arena from about two years ago, when we played here at the Final Four, but I’m happy to be here. Hopefully, we can make up for that experience and leave with a better impression this time”, said Milutinov during the media practice.
“We need to use these games in the best possible way because we were missing quite a few players here. A lot of us had national team commitments. We weren’t able to get together on time and train as a team, so we haven’t had enough practices together. That’s why these SuperCup games are important for us — to build as much chemistry as possible before the regular season starts and before the Greek SuperCup“, said Nikola whose team is still adapting to the new players.
“A lot of players left the team, including some who had been key parts of the team over the past few years. We’re going to miss them, but I think the players who have joined us will really help us a lot. They’re quality players, and there’s not much to say about them because I think they’re already well known in the European basketball. Of course, it will take some time to build chemistry, find our rhythm and get used to playing together, but I think we have a lot of talent and a great chance to repeat what we achieved last year”, said Milutinov.
In the end, he just mentioned that his team is hoping to win the first EuroLeague SuperCup: “We came here to try to win the tournament — honestly, that’s our expectation — but we’ll see.”
