Donte DiVincenzo, a new addition to the Minnesota Timberwolves, shared glowing remarks about teammate Rudy Gobert during a recent appearance on The Young Man and The Three.
The former New York Knicks guard credited Gobert for his unparalleled dedication to preparation and defensive impact.
“You don’t know Rudy until you play with him,” DiVincenzo said, via HoopsHype. “His approach is unmatched — daily. His preparation, his commitment to his body, getting ready for a game — it’s really cool to see that.”
DiVincenzo, who joined the Timberwolves as part of the blockbuster trade involving Karl-Anthony Towns, noted Gobert’s size and athleticism as game-changers.
He described moments early in the season when he doubted Gobert could catch certain lob passes, only to be amazed by the center’s ability to finish the play.
Gobert, a four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, is averaging 10.9 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game this season.
DiVincenzo emphasized the importance of finding ways to make the game easier for Gobert, highlighting how the center’s defensive presence benefits the entire team.
“If you make it easy for him, he’ll make it easy for you on the defensive end,” DiVincenzo added.
