The Oklahoma City Thunder have brought Alex Reese on a non-guaranteed contract, adding much-needed frontcourt depth as the team navigates through a series of injuries.

Reese’s arrival comes at a reasonable time, especially with key center Isaiah Hartenstein out of action at the start of the season due to a fractured left hand.

The Thunder, looking to solidify their interior presence, view Reese as a valuable addition who can help shore up their roster until their injured players return.

Standing at 6-foot-9, Reese has the size and versatility to contribute both offensively and defensively.

After going undrafted in the 2021 NBA Draft out of Alabama, Reese took his talents overseas, spending a season in Luxembourg, where he gained valuable professional experience.

His time abroad helped him hone his skills, particularly as a stretch big, which could benefit Oklahoma City’s system.

Last season, Reese continued to develop his game in the G League with the Rip City Remix, where he demonstrated solid all-around play.

In 43 games, he averaged 11.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game, showcasing his ability to score, rebound, and protect the rim.

His G League performance caught the attention of the Thunder, who hope he can bring some of that production to the NBA level.

Reese’s ability to stretch the floor with his shooting and defend the paint makes him a potential asset, especially given the Thunder’s current need for depth in the frontcourt.

With Hartenstein’s absence and other injuries to the roster, Reese could see meaningful playing time as Oklahoma City seeks to stay competitive early in the season.
