Aaron Gordon and the Denver Nuggets are in discussions regarding a potential contract extension as the 2024-2025 NBA season approaches.
During media day, Gordon expressed his interest in securing a new deal with the team. Currently, he holds a player option for the 2025-2026 season, which adds another layer of consideration to these negotiations.
NBA insider Brian Windhorst provided additional insight into the situation during Friday’s episode of The Hoop Collective, stating, “From what I understand, they are negotiating with Aaron Gordon.
“Aaron Gordon was eligible for a four-year, $150 million-ish contract extension. They haven’t handed out that offer, otherwise he would have signed it. From what I understand, they are negotiating and they’re hopeful of getting him at less than what would be his quote, unquote max.”
Windhorst added that while both sides are working toward an agreement, it remains to be seen whether the deal will come to fruition.
“We’ll see if that get that done, but I think they’re trying to do a negotiation there.”
The Nuggets initially acquired Gordon prior to the 2021 trade deadline, solidifying their long-term plans with him by signing a $92 million contract extension that covers four seasons.
This latest round of talks suggests the organization is eager to maintain its partnership with the forward while ensuring financial flexibility for the future.
