Those are executives, managers, coaches and influencers that make the match come to fruition in the first place. It is them who use their acumen to help basketballers perform well on the court.

We invite you to take a different look at the NBA and dig deeper to see what actually lies behind what fans are used to seeing. We will highlight the most prominent staff in the industry who are worth being paid attention to. Josh Bartelstein, 35-year-old CEO of Phoenix Suns, is one of the highest-ranking hire in the league. His business impact is invaluable for the Suns as he helped them to spread its fame way beyond the regional level.

David Fogel

Having started as a law clerk in the NBA Coaches Association, he now oversees the organization with 400 coaches across the league, acting as an executive director. Fogel’s main mission is to advocate on coaches’ behalf to ensure their working conditions, including their income and professional development.

Will Dawkins

Will Dawkins stays at the forefront of the Wizards organization. His career saw a rise in 2023 when he took over as a general manager for Oklahoma City. Now, at the age of 38, Dawkins tries to do his best to foster a long-lasting success of the Wizards as a GM, applying his experience and expertise that he gained by helping the Thunder in various ways.

Ricki Dean

Ricki Dean is an exceptional senior director of player engagement. She started her career at the NBPA before joining the Spurs in 2021. Later on, she got back to the NBPA the following year, taking over the role of Tamika Tremaglio, ex-executive director. Dean now happens to work with players, making sure that they realize themselves as individuals and not only as athletes.

Mujtaba Elgoodah

Being at the age of 30, Elgoodah acts as an NBPA special adviser to the executive director. His career path takes its root in the Golden State Warriors as that is where Elgoodah got to know Iguodala, who played there. Now, Elgoodah puts himself out there to help Iguodala with all operational matters. Besides, Elgoodah is in constant touch with the NBPA’s engagement team so that he could speak on their behalf.

Mark Daigneault

Daigneault has proven himself as one of the most remarkable head coaches with his recent achievements as the best NBA coach of the year. Currently working for the Thunder, he integrates an outstanding style of play. Those athletes that got to work with him will attest to his EQ and talent for connecting with people.
