There were some good signs during the Miami Heat’s preseason loss to the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel writes.

Jimmy Butler made his long-awaited return to the court for his first preseason game in two years, impressively scoring 11 points in just over 15 minutes of play.

His presence on the floor was a positive development for the team as they prepare for the upcoming season. Bam Adebayo showcased his evolving offensive skills, hitting two of his five attempts from beyond the arc, indicating a commitment to expanding his shooting range.

Meanwhile, Nikola Jovic started alongside Adebayo in the frontcourt and contributed nine points in 16 minutes, demonstrating his potential as a valuable player for the Heat this season.

“It was good to get that game conditioning in,” coach Erik Spoelstra said of the preseason opener. “It always feels a little bit different no matter how many years you’ve played. Our guys have been working extremely hard. But it was good to face somebody else.”

Spoelstra’s comments highlight the importance of preseason games for building team chemistry and rhythm, as they allow players to transition from practice to real-game scenarios.
