Gabe Vincent is eager to bounce back after a challenging first season with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Vincent signed with the Lakers after a strong season with the Miami Heat but was limited to just 11 games due to a knee injury.
The 28-year-old underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, which sidelined him for the majority of the 2023-24 season.
“It’s difficult. It’s always hard when you can’t play to the level you want to and can’t get back to your teammates and your organization the way that you can,” Vincent told Spectrum SportsNet.
Despite the setback, Vincent is optimistic about his recovery and the upcoming season.
“Body is feeling good. It’s been a long summer, making sure my knees are in good shape,” he said.
Vincent acknowledged that the injury was a tough break but expressed excitement about returning to the court.
“I had an unfortunate surgery in the middle of last season that kind of sidelined me for the most part of it,” he added.
Now fully focused on the 2024-25 season, Vincent is determined to make an impact for the Lakers.
“Looking forward to the new season ahead and take on these challenges,” he said.
The Lakers underwent significant changes during the offseason, including hiring new head coach JJ Redick.
Vincent praised the team’s new coaching staff and the energy surrounding the upcoming season.
“Things have been good, things have been positive, people are excited to get back on the court, excited to be around one another,” Vincent said.
Although Vincent was sidelined for much of last season, he made a brief return in the playoffs, scoring 9 points and grabbing four rebounds.
His regular season averages with the Lakers were 3.1 points and 1.9 assists in 19.8 minutes per game.
