The New Orleans Pelicans have signed Izaiah Brockington to a training camp deal. Andrew Lopez reported the move, noting Brockington’s previous experience with the team.
Last season, he played in one game with the Pelicans after spending the year with the Birmingham Squadron.
Brockington showcased his skills during the Pelicans’ summer league this year, further impressing the coaching staff.
The guard went undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft, which led him to explore opportunities with various teams.
On September 15, 2022, he signed a two-way contract with New Orleans and Birmingham but was waived just nine days later.
In March 2023, the Birmingham Squadron announced that they had acquired Brockington, marking the beginning of his season there.
On October 16, 2023, Brockington signed again with the Pelicans, but he was waived shortly after, on October 22.
Returning to the Squadron on October 29, he continued to develop his game in the G League.
On March 3, 2024, Brockington signed a 10-day contract with the Pelicans. However, he returned to Birmingham just days later, on March 14, 2024.
During his time with the Squadron last season, Brockington averaged 12.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 28.6 minutes per game.
