The New York Knicks signed forward Marcus Morris to an Exhibit 9 contract, a deal that is fully non-guaranteed unless he secures a spot on the Knicks’ opening night roster.

This move offers the Knicks flexibility while giving Morris a chance to earn a role with the team during training camp and preseason.

Morris, a 13-year NBA veteran, spent last season split between the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers. Across both teams, Morris averaged 6.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 16.7 minutes per game, contributing as a solid bench piece.

The journeyman forward experienced a tumultuous 2023-24 campaign, being traded twice. His first trade came when the LA Clippers sent him to the 76ers as part of the James Harden trade.

Morris was then dealt again midseason, this time in a three-team deal that included the Indiana Pacers and sent him from Philadelphia to the San Antonio Spurs.

However, his time in San Antonio was brief, as the Spurs opted to waive him shortly after acquiring him. Morris subsequently signed with the Cavaliers in mid-March, where he finished out the season.

Now, with a potential opportunity to join the Knicks, Morris will look to bring his veteran experience and versatility to a young team hoping to make strides in the Eastern Conference.
