The Cleveland Cavaliers have finalized a five-year contract with Kenny Atkinson as their new head coach, marking a significant move for the franchise.

NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news on X, announcing Atkinson’s appointment and the imminent completion of his contract negotiations.

Atkinson brings a wealth of coaching experience, having previously served as the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets from 2016 to 2020.

Following his tenure with the Nets, Atkinson contributed as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Clippers during the 2020-21 season.

Most recently, Atkinson was part of the coaching staff at Golden State Warriors from 2021 to 2024.
