The Los Angeles Lakers made a strategic move by selecting Dalton Knecht with the No. 17 pick in the NBA Draft, adding a versatile wing to their roster.

Lakers GM Rob Pelinka expressed his satisfaction with the pick, highlighting Knecht’s skills and fit with the team.

“We would have never imagined a player as skilled and perfect for our needs would be there [at 17],” Pelinka remarked, according to Dave McMenamin. He emphasized that Knecht was rated as a top 10 talent on the Lakers’ draft board.

During his recent season with the Tennessee Volunteers, Knecht showcased impressive stats, averaging 21.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.

The Lakers also hold the No. 55 pick in the second round, which they are expected to use for Bronny James.
