Italian forward Simone Fontecchio, recently acquired by the Detroit Pistons from the Utah Jazz, anticipates a contract extension with his new team.

Expressing his commitment to Detroit and the Pistons organization, Fontecchio shared, “I’m looking forward to the future. I love my family, I love Detroit, I love the Pistons organization and we’re going to work this summer, everybody, towards me staying here longterm. That’s what I want, what we want,” as reported by Omari Sankofa II.

Regarding his contract status, Fontecchio noted, “I’m a restricted free agent, so most likely I’m going to be here.”

He emphasized, “That’s good because being here the last two months, I understand Monty’s system and what his philosophy is and how we play. I’m definitely going to work this offseason knowing what my role is going to be.”

Throughout the season, Fontecchio was averaging 15.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 30.3 minutes per game for the Pistons.
