Friday’s Iowa-UConn game set a new record with a 7.1 rating and 14.2 million viewers across ESPN and ESPN2, marking the highest viewership for an NCAA women’s basketball game ever recorded by Nielsen.
It also became ESPN’s most-watched basketball game and ranked as the third most-watched basketball game in the past two years. South Carolina’s win over NC State earlier in the night garnered a 3.7 rating with 7.1 million average viewers.
