UConn showcased dominance yet again as they secured their second consecutive national championship title, defeating Purdue 75-60 in the NCAA championship game held in Glendale, Arizona.

The victory marks a historic achievement for the Huskies, becoming the first team since Florida in 2006 and 2007 to clinch back-to-back national titles.

Tristen Newton led the charge for UConn, tallying 20 points and seven assists, supported by Stephon Castle (15 points, 5 rebounds), Cam Spencer (11 points, 8 rebounds), and Donovan Clingan’s (11 points, 5 rebounds) contributions.

Despite a standout performance by Purdue’s Zach Edey, who finished with 37 points and 10 rebounds, the Boilermakers struggled to contain UConn’s offensive firepower.

Braden Smith added 12 points and eight assists for Purdue. Only three more players scored for the Boilermakers aside from Edey and Smith.

With this triumph, UConn extends their legacy in NCAA basketball, boasting an undefeated record of 6-0 in national championship games since 1999.

As UConn celebrates their remarkable achievement, Purdue reflects on a valiant effort throughout the tournament, falling short in the championship game despite a strong performance by their star player.

The victory solidifies UConn’s status as a powerhouse in college basketball, reaffirming their place among the elite programs in NCAA history.
