Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse expressed caution when discussing big man Joel Embiid’s rehabilitation progress following meniscus surgery.

Nurse mentioned that Embiid is currently in the “ramp up” phase of his rehab, although he didn’t provide specific details regarding his exact status within that phase.

Nurse elaborated on the questions surrounding Embiid’s recovery, such as determining what level of activity he can handle, when he can engage in contact drills, and when he can participate in various forms of gameplay like 1-on-1 or 5-on-5 scenarios.

He noted that Embiid has been returning to the court nearly every day, but Nurse refrained from setting a definitive timeline for Embiid’s return.

“He’s kind of in the ramp up phase right now. What can he handle? When can he start having contact? When can he start playing 1-on-1, 5-on-5? When can he go through a practice with contact?” Nurse said.
