Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors have reached a consensus on a two-year contract extension worth $35 million. With this extension, Kerr becomes the highest-paid coach in NBA history in terms of annual average salary, receiving $17.5 million per year.

While Gregg Popovich earns more than Kerr annually, it’s important to note that Popovich also holds the position of president with the San Antonio Spurs. Comparatively, Erik Spoelstra’s eight-year contract pays him approximately $15 million per year.

The agreement marks the culmination of several months of negotiations between Golden State’s general manager, Mike Dunleavy Jr., and Kerr’s representatives. Kerr’s extended contract now aligns with the remaining two seasons on Stephen Curry’s current deal.
