Joel Embiid has emerged as the early favorite for the 2023-2024 NBA Most Valuable Player award, according to the initial ESPN straw poll conducted by Tim Bontemps this season.

In the poll results, Embiid secured 63 first-place votes and 27 second-place votes, accumulating 848 points.

Nikola Jokic claimed the second position in the poll with 21 first-place votes, 41 second-place votes, and 30 third-place votes.

Embiid and Jokic have consistently occupied the top two spots in the MVP rankings over the past three seasons.

The rest of the top 5 include Giannis Antetokounmpo, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Luka Doncic.
