Just as Panathinaikos seemed to be hitting their stride following a victory over Olympiacos in Piraeus, a setback came their way.
Coach Ergin Ataman received the unfortunate news that Kostas Sloukas and Luka Vildoza won’t be available for the EuroLeague Round 6 matchup against Barcelona.
Sloukas was sidelined due to gastroenteritis, even requiring a brief hospital stay, while Vildoza, who didn’t participate in the Greek derby, is dealing with tendinitis in the Achilles tendon.
With Ioannis Papapetrou already out, Jerian Grant is expected to step into the starting role in their absence.
Dimitris Moraitis, Kyle Guy, and Marius Grigonis are likely to see increased playing time to compensate for the sidelined players.
