A promising basketball talent from Massachusetts, instrumental in securing a state championship for his high school, tragically lost his life just days before his debut as a college freshman.
Carl-Hens Beliard, an 18-year-old freshman at Salem State University, was discovered with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
Despite being swiftly taken to Salem Hospital, he was pronounced dead.
Authorities have made an arrest in connection with the killing, clarifying that it does not appear to be a random incident.
“This does not appear to be a random act of violence or that there is any ongoing threat to the SSU community,” Salem police stated.
