In court on Monday, Manhattan prosecutors acknowledged that Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. did not break his girlfriend’s neck during the alleged hotel altercation.
Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Mirah Curzer stated that they would be dropping the second-degree assault charge against Porter due to “insufficient evidence” after confirming that the NBA player did not cause a break in his girlfriend Kysre Gondrezick’s neck.
“What initially appeared to be a fractured vertebrae was not in fact an injury caused by the defendant,” Curzer told Judge Jay Weiner during Porter’s hearing in Manhattan Criminal Court.
