In a recent revelation, Christian Wood, who entered free agency after a stint with the Mavericks, shed light on his close connection with Lakers head coach Darvin Ham, a relationship that played a pivotal role in his decision to sign a two-year, $5.7 million deal with the Purple and Gold.

The 27-year-old forward emphasized the significance of Ham’s unwavering support during the free agency period. “He called me every day in free agency,” Wood told Spectrum SportsNet. “I could say that now. Believe it or not. We have a good relationship.

“And I think that was a really big thing for me just having that communication with the coach where you could talk personally. He’s a players’ coach as well, so having that on my side is great. Him believing in me and trusting my abilities is fantastic.”
