This summer Austin Reaves made another stride in his career as he was selected among the 12 players that will represent Team USA at this year’s FIBA World Cup.

The 25-year-old Lakers shooting guard admitted that it was a no-brainer for him to accept the call up to the national team.

“It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do,” Reaves said on SiriusXM NBA Radio. “When we got the call, it was something I couldn’t say no to. Just going to represent our country and have an opportunity to go and win and make our imprint on USA Basketball means a lot.”

“[Grant Hill] called my agents at first and they were the ones that relayed it to me,” Reaves recalled how he found out about him being selected for Team USA. “It’s kind of a shock. Not so much for me not thinking I was good enough for the opportunity but it was just kind of nowhere. We weren’t really expecting it. It was something when we got the call, my agents called me. It was something that we couldn’t pass on.”
