Cleveland Cavaliers’ star Donovan Mitchell recently shared his thoughts on the comparisons drawn between him and former NBA icon Dwyane Wade. Mitchell expressed his admiration for Wade’s achievements while asserting his determination to carve out his unique basketball legacy.

“I’d love to accomplish three chips, All-NBA, All Defensive Team, all that stuff,” Mitchell stated, per Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, alluding to his aspirations in line with Wade’s illustrious career.

He acknowledged the relatability of certain aspects of their playing styles but emphasized the importance of blazing his trail. “A lot of it’s relatable, but… I’m trying to make my own lane as well,” Mitchell remarked.

Mitchell also playfully remarked about his shooting prowess, hinting at one of the differences between him and Wade. “I tell him that all the time, I tell him, because he can’t shoot. But he did pretty well for a guy who can’t shoot,” Mitchell quipped.

Last season, the 26-year-old Mitchell exhibited averaged career-high 28.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game in 35.8 minutes of play for the Cavaliers.
