The Knicks are making moves to secure their roster for the upcoming seasons, and one of their top priorities is shooting guard Josh Hart.
According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, the Knicks and Hart are expected to finalize a contract extension in August, worth approximately $75 million over four years.
Hart’s journey to the Knicks began in February 2022 when he was acquired by the Trail Blazers in a multi-player trade with the Pelicans. However, just a year later, the 28-year-old was traded once again, finding his way to the Big Apple as part of a four-team trade.
Earlier this offseason, Hart exercised his player option, ensuring his stay with the Knicks for the 2023-24 season with a salary close to $13 million. Now, it appears the Knicks are committed to securing Hart’s services for the long term with a lucrative extension.
While the reported $75 million extension is a significant investment, the Knicks clearly see the value Hart brings to their roster. As they aim to build a competitive team capable of contending in the Eastern Conference, securing key players like Hart is essential for their success.
