The Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to a two-year deal with Derrick Rose, per SNY’s Ian Begley. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Rose will ink a fully guaranteed $6.5MM deal.
Rose’s addition serves as a vital one with Memphis looking to reshape their culture. A former league MVP who now is a resonating mentor, he is expected to share his experience around the promising club and guide franchise cornerstone Ja Morant towards a needed change following its recent scandals.
The ex-superstar also played collegiate basketball for Memphis. His landing in the club can only be a full circle for him and in the city.
Rose spent his last 2 ½ seasons for the New York Knicks. Last 2022-23, he averaged 5.6 points and 1.7 assists in 27 games.
