Former NBA player turned analyst Kendrick Perkins thinks that the Mavericks must retain Kyrie Irving. The star point guard is an unrestricted free agent and is able to sign with any team.

“You cannot afford to let another box office or superstar-caliber player walk out of that franchise…you won’t have too many guys of Kyrie Irving caliber to bring into Dallas,” Perkins said on First Take, via ClutchPoints.

However, it seems that there isn’t any real market for Irving because the teams that have cap space would not be attracted to the player and his preferred destinations are not in position to offer him the money that he wants.

It is thought that the 2016 NBA champion will most likely re-sign with the Mavericks.
