The New Orleans Pelicans are expected to be aggressive in acquiring a top pick – either the second or third overall – in hopes to pursue G League prospect Scoot Henderson, sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The Charlotte Hornets (2nd) and the Portland Trail Blazers (3rd) are at the front with the No. 1 San Antonio Spurs for the top-three picks of this year’s NBA rookie selection.

Either Henderson or Alabama standout Brandon Miller appears set to be selected by the Hornets for their coveted pick. Per Charania, the club is looking to solidify its draft board later this week.

The Pels got the 14th pick for the 2023 Draft which they may use to land their desired higher selection to land Henderson. They may also attach their key role players to further entice both Charlotte and Portland.

The Spurs, owners of the first overall pick, are already expected to land French wunderkind Victor Wembanyama.

The 2023 NBA Draft is set on June 22.
