The duo of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray is now considered one of the best in the NBA. Some even say that it is the best.

But it wasn’t all that easy for Murray to get to this point. The point guard missed the entire 2021-2022 NBA season due to an injury. Now he finds himself and the Nuggets one step away from winning the first championship.

Jokic revealed that he warned Murray that it will take some time for him to get going this season. According to the Serbian superstar, his teammate become an even better player after the injury.

“I told him in the beginning of the season that he is not going to be good the first couple of months,” Jokic said. “But now he’s playing on the level that I thought he’s going to play to be honest. He’s a really good player, I think he matured.

“I think the injury kind of slowed him down, but made him read the game a little bit better. And I think he’s playing phenomenal the whole playoffs.”

Murray averaged 20 points, 4 rebounds and 6.2 assists in 32.8 minutes per game during the regular season. His numbers went up to 26.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 7.1 assists in 39.8 minutes per game in the playoffs.
