The Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said that the firing of Doc Rivers was ‘disturbing’ after the Philadelphia 76ers lost to the Boston Celtics in 7 games, and said Doc was a Hall-of-Famer.
This comes on the heels of Monty Williams being fired by the Phoenix Suns; Spoelstra said ‘didn’t make sense’ for ‘experienced, proven coaches’ to be losing their jobs like this.
Spoelstra went on to say that every year, good teams lose, and that those kinds of losses are unavoidable due to the nature of the sport and playoff structure:
