It appears that the disastrous aftermath of the 2023 Playoffs for the Milwaukee Bucks have finally allowed Damian Lillard to unleash his initial trump card for the Giannis Antetokounmpo recruitment.

Hours after the Bucks took their shocking first-round exit in the hands of the underdogs Miami Heat on Wednesday, Lillard took a swipe in his Twitter account and retweeted a photoshopped image of him with Antetokounmpo – wearing a Portland Trail Blazers gear.

The post garnered hundreds of reactions before Lillard decided to delete it.

The shady retweet made by Lillard may only indicate that utmost desire of him to share the court with the Greek sensation. Back in the 2020 offseason, when free agency rumblings were roaring around the Milwaukee Bucks cornerstone, it was then reported by Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports that both superstars have closely discussed the prospect of a potential partnership.

In his appearance on the “Actually Me” of GQ Sports last December, Lillard even picked Giannis as the player who can truly help him to win a championship. He went on to note that their probable collaboration will be perfect based on their complementing skill sets.

Despite posting the best individual season of his career this 2022-23 by averaging a career-high 32.2 points, Lillard wasn’t able to make it to the cut off of this year’s postseason with the struggling Blazers squad. Earlier this month, the loyal All-Star went on to admit that he will reconsider his future with the organization should they fail to get productive in the offseason and deliver significant moves.

After establishing a 58-win regular season which stood out as the best in the league this year, Antetokounmpo and the Bucks were knocked away by the Heat in five games this postseason – becoming the sixth top-seed team in NBA playoff history to crumble in the first-round stage.
