The Lakers need to win both of the remaining two regular season games to have a shot at clinching a playoff spot. One of those games will against the Suns.

It is likely that Los Angeles will not face the best version of Phoenix in that game. The Suns have already locked the 4-seed in the Western Conference which makes their last two regular season games meaningless.

Naturally, the question arises whether Monty Williams will use his stars in those games or not. The Suns head coach answered that question during a press conference.

“We won’t make that assessment right now official at all,” Williams said, via Duane Rankin. “It may make sense to play them a half. It may make sense to do something else.”
