When Russell Westbrook joined the Lakers two years ago, he was expected to be the third star after LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The former league MVP who holds the record for most triple doubles was asked to focus on defense instead of playing the way that he is used to.

This idea did not work and eventually Russ was demoted to a bench role during his second year with the Purple and Gold.

According to an anonymous NBA scout, the idea of asking Westbrook to be a 3-and-D guy is ridiculous.

“Asking Russ to be a 3-and-D guy is like asking Wilt [Chamberlain] to be a point guard,” the scout said, via Andrew Greif of Los Angeles Times.

The 34-year-old point guard is averaging 15.2 points, 4.8 and 7.8 assists in 30.5 minutes per game since he joined the Clippers.
