For the first time in his career Jayson Tatum was ejected after picking two technical fouls. The 24-year-old small forward was sent to the locker room with just under 4 minutes left to play in the fourth quarter in the game between the Celtics and Knicks.

Boston was down by 14 points after Josh Hart knocked down a corner three-pointer. New York ended up winning 109-94.

After Hart made the shot, Tatum was saying something to the referee who immediately called the ejection on the Celtics’ star.

During the postgame press conference the player was asked about both of the technical fouls that he received for arguing with the game officials.

“First, that came from the dunk,” he said. “That one was tough because they literally glided me to the rim. Two hands on my back that would have been scary if I didn’t hold on to the rim. I was upset about that. Upset about the three. I feel like you smacked my arm. Didn’t go my way.”

“It’s tough. The first one, no call. If you look it was clearly a foul and those ones are tough. You get tech for something that you probably was right about.

“Second one, I just told them this was probably the best officiated game I’ve been a part. I tried to give them a compliment. Didn’t go over so well.”
