The Mavericks acquired Kyrie Irving from the Nets in a blockbuster trade. Former NBA star Spud Webb thinks that the 2016 NBA champion will take off some of the scoring load off of Luka Doncic and will make the team better.

“Well, we are always looking here for, I guess we can say a second man to help Luka out and take some of the pressure off,” Webb told Basketball Insiders. “That is what Kyrie can hopefully bring to the Mavericks and help Luka be more fresh at the end of games- that’s one way I look at it.

“He’s on a winning team, not saying Brooklyn wasn’t a winning team but this team went to the Western Conference Finals last year minus Brunson, who’s gone to New York. I just don’t know how it doesn’t make them a better team.”
