Kyrie Irving’s unexpected trade request to be out of the Brooklyn Nets has jolted the entire organization, including Kevin Durant, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

According to Wojnarowski, teams, more than Irving’s shocking stand to be traded, are “much more interested” to observe what would be Durant’s response to this embattled saga that occurred.

Out of frustration with the team’s misleading direction and uncertainty last offseason, Durant requested a trade out of the Nets organization. As the franchise didn’t find a suitable partner to cater to their unreachable demands in exchange for the superstar forward, both sides opted to continue the season and establish reconnection.

Irving’s exercise of his player option this 2022-2023 season also heavily influenced Durant to reverse his decision and continue riding in Brooklyn.

But with this new dilemma that occurred that circles Irving and the Nets, it is truly enticing to see what would be the stance of Durant, especially when the All-Star guard’s request is granted ahead of next week’s trade deadline. He remains out of the team activities with an MCL injury and is eyeing a return near All-Star Weekend this mid-February.

After starting their campaign at rock bottom marred by controversies and the departure of Steve Nash from his coaching post, the Nets found reasons to live this season as they had a dramatic turnaround, now boasting a 31-20 record that currently places them fourth in the Eastern Conference.

Durant and Irving have been the focal engine of their rise that ultimately convinced league circles that they are set to compete. But with this new controversial scenario that occurred, it is yet to be seen now their impending plans alongside the Brooklyn franchise.
